Pros and Cons: Working from Home

Companies are gradually opening up to the idea of allowing their employees to work remotely. Working from home can be a wonderful opportunity especially if you’re a busy parent or if you’re a full-time student. Not only does it incorporate flexibility, but is also an opportunity to see if you are a dedicated individual able to complete work independently with discipline.

The benefits of working from home are usually flexibility, autonomy, and a short work commute. There’s no doubt that employees will get plenty of freedom in balancing their work-life. Not only do you get to have work and earn money, but at the same time, you get to complete house chores and cook dinner for the kids. Furthermore, with autonomy, you’ll be managing your own work schedule and getting work done on your own time without someone else telling you to do so, kind of like being your own boss. Other than that and probably one of the best benefits, is saving on transportation. This is incredibly helpful especially for those where transportation is difficult to obtain or when the route is impossible to make it to work on time due to weather conditions.

On the other hand, the downsides of working from home always have a cost when it comes to balancing work and life. The amount of freedom and flexibility given can be tough as it could mean you’re constantly ready to receive and finish work due to the fact people think you’re constantly at home. Not only that, you might feel lonely as well. This can impact on the answers you need from your colleague and not being able to receive them instantly.

There are various jobs that encourage people to work from home, such as network marketing, being an online assistant, an online store, a freelancer, and so on. But, working from home isn’t all that bad. It can help improve some crucial skills such as time management, self-discipline, and communication too.
